JuniperRatings Reports - Supplier Classifications

The company has a substantial track record in the sector and is generally regarded as a global leader.  They have successfully completed  reference projects in different parts of the world.
They have significant resources: a strong technical team with directly relevant expertise and can call on additional specialist technical support from within the group across a range of areas of expertise.  They, or their parent, can provide a bankable process guarantee.

The company is acknowledged as a leading player in this specific application, but has a slightly lower standing than those in the 5-star category, either because they have somewhat less resources, or have a less strong track-record, or have so far only done projects in their local market.
Nevertheless they have themselves successfully completed more than one reference project; operating plant data is available for review that confirms their technology performance as being commercially and environmentally acceptable; and they have a multi-disciplinary team of engineers with acknowledged expertise in the sector.

The company has a more limited track record or lacks the ‘strength in depth’ of some other players but has demonstrated the process sufficiently, so the technology risk is likely to be manageable in the context of securing project finance.
They have themselves successfully commissioned at least one commercial reference project, secured via competitive tender, that is processing a relevant waste feed at a relevant scale; and would generally be regarded as a real contender for projects for this specific type of application.

A smaller company formed by individuals with significant experience in the sector and experience in directly relevant areas of process design; while the technology may have been demonstrated and the company may have secured a first order, no commercial reference plant - on a relevant feed and at relevant scale - has yet been completed by this team.  Some may also lack the strength in depth of larger or more established players but they will still have the necessary  knowledge and experience  to engineer and deliver potential projects.
This classification is also applied to companies whose scope of supply is limited, either because they only supply one of several core components of the integrated system or because they outsource key elements of project delivery.

The company’s team has limited experience of the sector (e.g. a ‘start-up’ or a larger company diversifying into the sector) or is not the developer of the process (e.g. an agent or delivery partner).   Others may be given this rating because they have not yet secured an arms-length commercial contract.  Technical, engineering, commercial or financial resources may be limited.
NOT RATED
In some circumstances a company may not have been given a JuniperRating.  For example, the company may no longer be trading or the process is no longer promoted; in other cases there may be insufficient information available at the present time for us to rate this company.

If a rating is (bracketed) this indicates that it has been qualified for some reason, as discussed in the text.
An upward pointing arrow indicates that it is anticipated that the rating may be raised in the near future if developments continue as expected (for example: a plant is currently being commissioned)
